Is OCD Taking Up Too Much Space in Your Life?

Do you find yourself caught in loops of unwanted thoughts, images, or worries that you just can't shake? To cope, you might find yourself checking things repeatedly, seeking constant reassurance, or mentally reviewing events until they feel "just right."

If you are experiencing mild to moderate OCD, you don't have to navigate it alone. You might feel like your thoughts are "weird" or "taboo," but here, you will find a safe, judgment-free space. Together, we can help you break the cycle of anxiety and reclaim your time, energy, and peace of mind.

Understanding Mild to Moderate OCD

OCD typically consists of two main parts: obsessions (intrusive, distressing thoughts) and compulsions (behaviours or mental acts performed to ease that distress).

For individuals with mild to moderate OCD, these symptoms are disruptive but still allow for day-to-day functioning. You might recognise your symptoms in common themes, such as:

  • Checking & Safety: Needing to repeatedly check doors, appliances, or locks.
  • Contamination: Excessive worrying about germs, dirt, or chemicals leading to intense cleaning or washing routines.
  • Order & Symmetry: Feeling intense discomfort if things are misaligned, uneven, or out of place.
  • Intrusive Thoughts: Distressing, repetitive thoughts or mental images that conflict with your actual values (sometimes referred to as "Pure O").
  • Mental Rituals: Counting, repeating phrases silently, or constantly analysing past conversations to prevent something bad from happening.

How We Will Work Together

We will use evidence-based approaches tailored specifically to your pacing and comfort levels. My goal is to help you become comfortable with uncertainty so that OCD loses its power over your daily life.

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT): Instead of fighting or arguing with your intrusive thoughts which often just makes them louder, ACT teaches you how to step back from them. You will learn to acknowledge an OCD thought as just a passing leaf on a stream. Make room for the uncomfortable feelings without needing to perform a ritual, and focus your energy on what values truly represent you.

  • Gradual Exposure & Coping Tools: We will gently work together to face anxiety-inducing thoughts without relying on your usual compulsions. We will build your toolkit step-by-step, ensuring you always feel supported and in control.

Ready to Step Out of the OCD Loop?

You don’t have to wait for the thoughts to completely disappear before you start living your life. Let’s work together to help you handle uncertainty and reclaim your time and energy.
