Integrative Counselling: Warwick, Leamington Spa & South Warwickshire

Are you considering beginning counselling?

Have you have been struggling for a while with unwanted emotions or feelings for no apparent reason. Relationship issues can be tough to navigate alone. Is anxiety making your life limited? Low mood and depression can make life seem like a constant obstacle keeping you trapped and weighed down. Perhaps you notice a repeated pattern in your life that you would like to change.

I set up Good Journey Counselling for people who would like to explore their issues and seek change. People often look for a toolbox of techniques to help them to cope or keep them above water. This can be useful for a short period of time, but without insight into what is actually going on deep down, it can feel like you are just treading water.

I specialise in helping people with Anxiety, Depression and Relationship Issues, however clients do come to me for help for a number of reasons.

The importance of the counsellor and client relationship - a journey of discovery and change

It is my firm belief that in order for a client/patient to understand themselves in a deeper way, they must first build a strong therapeutic relationship with a counsellor that can guide them through what could be a difficult journey.

Whether the path be long or short, mountainous or meandrous, gruelling or satisfying, a good counsellor will be caring in nature and live the journey with you.

Discovery and change cannot begin until we feel truly understood.

My Approach to Counselling

I am an integrative counsellor and draw on the following approaches:

  • Person-centred Counselling: Clients can explore their world in a non-directive way in a supportive setting with no judgement.

  • Psychodynamic Counselling: A therapeutic approach that explores past experiences, into childhood and early relationships, identifying repeated patterns. Identifying defence mechanisms and looking at how we might we react to each other in the counselling room and what that means.

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy: I use elements of CBT with clients to help them understand and change the way they think.

  • Mindfulness: I use elements of mindfulness during sessions to help ground clients using well known techniques and through relaxed breathing.
